Around 2:30 am last night (by US Eastern Standard Time), the pageview counter registered 1,000 views. I posted the first entries on this blog last June--so it has taken nine months to reach this number. About two-thirds of the views came from the United States, trailed substantially by Russia (79), China (76), and Taiwan (59). Most of the views from Russia and China came at the beginning. Those from Russia were, with one or two exceptions, from sites trying to get me to click on a link. All but three of the views from China followed within a few seconds a visit from an American student in China who had emailed to ask when the final episodes of The Carma Klown would be posted on Nifty. I had just finished posting all the episodes here and directed him to this site. He was one of the first visitors; apparently his browsing habits were of interest to someone in China.
About one-third of the views used Firefox to access the site; another quarter used Chrome. Safari and Safari Mobile jointly accounted for about a fifth. Only nine percent of the views were through Internet Explorer. The remainder came from users of Linux and a few of the less common mobile phone systems. Three people used Windows NT (v. 6.0 and 6.1).
Half of the viewers used a Windows operating system; another 35 percent used various Apple systems (Mac users accounted for only 15 percent). An increasing number of people are accessing the blog through phones and tablets.
